Lighthouse Meets With Emerging Local IT Talent

Lighthouse software testers see promise in Dayton’s economic future with the emerging local IT talent at Wright State’s Digital Mixer

DAYTON, OH February 23, 2010– Software testing company Lighthouse Technologies, Inc. (Lighthouse) foresees economic growth in the Dayton region with the emergence of local information technology students.  At Wright State’s Digital Mixer, Lighthouse met with students pursing majors related to information technology from Wright State University, University of Dayton, and Sinclair Community College.

With the end of the school year approaching, many students are seeking career employment in the software development and software testing industries after graduating or co-ops and internships opportunities for the summer.  College and university students ranged from Computer Engineering majors to Management Information Systems majors whose expected graduation date is spring 2010 and 2011.

“With the talent I see (at the Digital Mixer), we need to provide jobs to attract these young people to stay within the Dayton region and in the state of Ohio,” says Jeff Van Fleet, President and CEO of Lighthouse, a company that employs software testers and other local IT professionals.  “Ohio spends millions of dollars each year educating students, where a high percentage of them end up leaving the state.  Providing a job market targeted to the emerging talent in the area will help Dayton and Ohio get a return on its education investment.”

Along with the need to keep the Dayton job market alive, Mark Coltrain, Human Resources Manager, states, “These young minds are very driven and are inspired to get this area back on its feet.  We came into this mixer with a limited number of open software testing positions, but after speaking to these highly motivated students, we are rethinking our hiring plans and are opening up new positions.”
