As a benefactor from Aileron’s Outside Boards Program, Jeff Van Fleet serves as a panel speaker
DAYTON, OH February 9, 2010– Lighthouse Technologies, Inc.’s (Lighthouse) President and CEO, Jeff Van Fleet, gave valuable insight as a panel speaker at Aileron’s Outside Boards program event. As the CEO of Dayton-based software testing company and a benefactor of this program, Van Fleet spoke to audience members about the importance and advantages of small businesses having a Board of Advisors.
The two part program emphasized the importance of receiving an unbiased evaluation and recommendation from outside business owners and leaders who have a number of years of experience. Participants of the program leave with a clear understanding of the value of a board, details on starting a board, and maximizing a board’s potential.
“Aileron was instrumental in helping Lighthouse establish our board,” says Van Fleet. “Not only did they provide training on utilizing outside boards, Aileron consultants Eric Graham and Bill Mathews started us off as trial Board members, then they introduced me to each of our Board members. Our Board has unbelievable connections and they are very successful business people who love sharing their knowledge and experience.”
Lighthouse’s Board members consists of: Charlie Schwegman, President of MacAulay Brown, Inc., the largest defense contractor headquartered in Dayton; David Ganzsarto, CEO of Alternate Solutions Homecare, Southwest Ohio’s leading provider of health and social care; and Larry Foreman, Sr. Director of Development at LexisNexis, and former President of two successful software companies.
Van Fleet sees the advantages of having board members ranging from different industries, including software testing companies like Lighthouse as well as experts from other industries. “Every time we meet as a board, I am able to leverage their individual experience and gain valuable insight on things I had never thought about before. Each of our board members belong to a company that has a niche unique to the industry they represent,” says Van Fleet. “During our last meeting everyone was able to leverage that niche and apply it to the Lighthouse business model.”
