Jeff Van Fleet, CEO and President of Lighthouse Technologies, Inc., Appointed to Wright State University's Information Systems Corporate Advisory Board

Local Dayton technology executive, Jeff Van Fleet, will serve with 20 other CEOs, CIOs, and notable alumni on the Corporate Advisory Board

DAYTON, OH February 11, 2011– Software testing company Lighthouse Technologies, Inc. (Lighthouse) today announces that its President and CEO, Jeff Van Fleet, has joined the Management Information Systems (MIS) Corporate Advisory Board at Wright State University’s Raj Soin College of Business.  The board helps shape the future of Wright State’s MIS program by recruiting over 20 CEOs, CIOs, and notable alumni who have had a recent regional and global impact in the business world.

Barbara Denison, Assistant Professor of Information Systems and Operations Management at Wright State University, nominated software quality improvement executive Van Fleet to be on the board because of his involvement with the Workforce Development Committee at Technology First.

“Lighthouse has provided challenging internships that have advanced the career experience of our students,” says Denison, who saw Lighthouse’s positive performance despite the recession.  “I am impressed with his interest in the preparation of information systems students.”

Founded in 2004, the board’s principle objectives is to engage students and faculty with real-world  industry best-practice, help shape the curriculum  to ensure it meets the needs and dynamics of businesses, and assist in on-going programs of scholarship and sponsorship, leading to employment for Wright State University students.

“Businesses today are looking for graduates who have real-world experiences or have the ability to align their learned skills with ever-evolving business needs,” says Van Fleet. “I want to give students more opportunity to see what real-world problems look like by applying my software testing business knowledge in the classroom and generate more internships and opportunities for these students to become skilled information systems professionals in the community.”

The board’s collaborating amongst executives, alumni, students, and the MIS department is fundamental in enhancing a student’s curriculum.  Graduates of the department go into the workforce as software engineers, to systems analysts, to application development leaders.

“With the decrease in MIS degrees awarded since at least 2006, I am looking forward to working with this board to increase the number of graduates in the MIS department,” says Van Fleet.  “Dayton is evolving to become a technology hub for the mid-west and our area needs to increase the number of local employable information technology professionals to support this demand.”
